Artist Statement For Abstract Art
My process is fairly simple but sometimes unpredictable. I often simply chose colors to paint with and whatever comes about will then exist in the universe. I am driven by emotion to paint. While my pieces contain physical manifestations of objects (clouds, etc.), they all are back by an emotional response either exacted in the title given or from the surrounding environment of nature.
I often create to find joy within myself and hopefully extend that to others through colors and impressions of paint. I want to stimulate the viewer emotionally as well as through physical interaction through the texture in the art. When a piece resonates with a viewer, I know my job is done.
Artist Statement
For Surreal Art
My work focuses on the instability of emotions and often mental illness. In this case, using a house as a metaphor for dealing with issues that arise from the past , present or dealing with future events. The house is built on an unsteady foundation while often being set ablaze or encountering fire ( which can both sustain life and simultaneously destroy it as well). The house is a personification of human emotions painted in a primitive form ( such as our emotions are primitive and instinctual ). Dealing with the darkness , for some, even being in what can be considered an environment of safety, can be painful and leave them feeling alone. Issues such as depression, or isolation can cause distortion of a once beautiful space. For some it never was a beautiful space to begin with. Hopefully my pieces resonate with the various emotions the viewers feel and help them through the darkness that they may be experiencing.
My suitcase series deals with various life experiences and situations we often find ourselves in as well as the emotions involved.
